Lalaloopsy Silly Hair "Jewel Sparkles"

It's been a while since I've done a review. I guess I've been anxious over my birthday coming up on Tuesday :3 Here's hoping for new Lalaloopsy or Kawaii Crush merchandise. In fact, if I get any I will be doing a review as I open it. How exciting is that?!

Okay so maybe it isn't that exciting but I have no life, so to me it is. Enjoy the review~!

Fit for a a princess!

Today we will be observing the first special themed Lalaloopsy doll to hit market sometime after their release. I assume these were made to appeal to anyone who had wished for Lalaloopsy's to have some sort of hair to play with. As I got into Lalaloopsy a little late, I got mine about the price of a normal doll, if not a few dollars more. While a new line of hair dolls has come out, there are still new Silly Hair dolls being released on occasion.

A Silly Hair Lalaloopsy is a doll that acts like an average Lalaloopsy doll. However, as the name would imply they have a "silly hair" feature. The hair is not of a soft material, but of coils of thin, hollow plastic. Each doll comes with a curling brush, as well as a few accessories specific to each character. They also wear outfits vaguely modified from their normal outfit, and come with a pet.

While Jewel and Crumbs had been the original two, many have followed since!

Don't I look cute enough to eat?

My hair is the only part of me not covered in paint!
C-U-R-L-Y
For those who enjoy the chill of winter
Time for my curtain call~!
It is the chic, le yes~?
Just a hint of Pixie magic
My, the waves are tall today.
The flames may be hot, but my hair is hotter!

For a while after the initial release of these basic Silly Hair dolls, it seems as though there would not be anymore coming out due to a supposed lack of popularity in the line. But after a while, a special Lalaloopsy doll was release and advertised to be part of this line:

A song in my heart and a style for all occasions!
Harmony B. Sharp, is one of the special Lalaloopsy that came out in 2012, and the only special doll released for the Silly Hair line. Although as you can see in the picture, only two of her hair attachments actually fit the theme. While Harmony was popular as a character, her hefty price (fifty to seventy dollars) kept many from purchasing her. She is still out in stores though and the price has gone down since then.

Since then, a few more of the Silly Hair dolls have come out and even a brand new spin-off line of Silly Hair dolls have been released:

I believe this to be quite silly!

What? No gems to go with my hair?

Frozen hair, it's cool.
A serious case of bed head!
Once again productions of these dolls had come to a short end. Two more little silly hairs have been released, now including a gimmick of having three hair colors. Instead of just one. Observe:

I've heard of angel hair noodles, but I didn't think I would see it on a doll
It's Sprinkles Picasso!
And so, I shall now dive into my usual plans. I will show off features, provide information, and I will also give some ratings before ending it. So here we go!

Hearts and buttons and flowers oh my!

As I mentioned previously. Each Lalaloopsy Silly Hair doll comes with a coiling brush and five sets of hair clips. Each being unique to the girl. As you can see, Jewel's consists of pink hearts, pink flowers, and green buttons. Her brush is pink themed.

This is a full view shot of Silly Hair Jewel. The shoes (from what you can see) may look familiar to you. This is because they are really the same pair of shoes that a normal Jewel Sparkles doll wears!

Essentially the dolls are the same, but besides similar colorings and bodies. The true differences rely on their shoes and hairstyles.

As you can see, her new dress does have plenty of similarities to the previous dress worn by Jewel. However it also consists of many differences such as fact her skirt is essentially just own layer instead of three or four. It also lacks the ivy-green belt, buttons strip, and overall the skirt is a different shape. She also lacks her tiara due to the silly hair.

Hey, what are you doing? What's that camera for?!
There are many hair posing capabilities for the Silly Hair, but I've noticed that it can be really hard to get the style you want to stay as still as they make it look in pictures. The hair piece may shift a bit, or will not coil as tightly as you would like. I have tried to re-create one or two of the styles shown on the box art and found it hard to do. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get pictures.

Each doll comes with her normal pet. But each pet has it's own little gimmick, to fit with the doll. Such as you can see above, cat's tail is coiled. Some pets have their ears, wings, and even their noses as the focal coil piece. However, they do suffer from limited capabilities one can do with it.

Harmony B. Sharp's pet and the Lalaloopsy Littles do not have this function however. Harmony's instead words as a musical shaker, while the littles' silly hair gimmick works differently and their pets can clip onto their hair.

But for now, lets go over some reviews:

Fun

Although the only gimmick of the Silly Hair doll may be the fact that it's hair is coiled and made to be played with, there is actually a lot of fun things you can do with them! Not only do they make a fun addition to any Lalaloopsy collection, With five strands of coily plastic hair and about ten hair pieces, there are plenty of capabilities one could do with this doll. It more or less relies on your patience to try to get hairstyles you enjoy!

I have given it a five out of five buttons because I think the many capabilities possible are worth purchase. It's also good for stress relieving or time spending.

Health

Originally I didn't think this was important but I had decided to mention. This toy is not suitable for very young children that are not watched carefully. Because of so many little pieces it is possible one could choke on them.

Other then that, I don't really think there's any other harmful things to mention so I have rated this a four out of five.

In Conclusion

There wasn't exactly much to rate, was there? I apologize and if you can think of anything to ask me, I would gladly go back and review it or add it to my ratings here. Anyway, my next review could be anything. A brand new Lalaloopsy, my very first Kawaii Crush!

Only two more days to find out if I get anything related to this blog for my birthday. I probably will though, as I plan to make a trip to the toy store after opening my presents to check out a few things I have been informed of.

I also plan to make a very special Halloween based post to show off some Lalaloopsy cosplayers and costumes ON Halloween. Unless something would happen and I need to do it a day before or after. If you plan on doing anything or would like to see your picture on here, feel free to comment :3
